There are so many websites now days that claim to be the expert on everything from Cell Phones to best credit cards. I've found that it's easy to google say "Best Credit Card for Travel" and you'll get a bunch of paid adds first then You'll get the smooth articles that were built by pro webmasters to give the article a high rating on google search engines. Unfortunately I've found that most of these articles are only trying to sell You the same stuff they are advising You about. i.e. It's not about helping You, it's about helping them. I used to listen to this guy Clark Howard on Sirius when I was over the road. His Mantra was "save more, spend less and avoid rip-offs." He was always answering questions from every day people about anything from Mortgage advice to how to find the best credit card (or which are the worst) I was looking for a better deal on a rewards card for travelers, credit card, and after spending an hour searching, and not finding anything that felt like a good deal, remembered Clark, and found his helpful website.Clark.com. Within 15 minutes I'd found what may be the best credit card for road trippers, travelers, and truckers. . ( I signed up for the Penfed Credit Card. Unfortunately it doesn't allow You to cash in your rewards points for cash AND charges you your points to use them to make purchases from thier list.) I prefer my Chase Rewards card. Because You can cash in your points for CASH.) So Clark was wrong on the Penfed card in my opinion. Updated 11-13-18
Almost every day I see articles about the new "self driving" software that soon will take over the driving duties. From Mother Jones: "Last October, an Uber trucking subsidiary named Otto delivered 2,000 cases of Budweiser 120 miles from Fort Collins, Colorado, to Colorado Springs—without a driver at the wheel." I imagine regular van drivers will be the first to go and the last of the truck driving jobs to go to robotics will be labor intensive driving jobs like Car Hauling although given the amazing pace of AI and Robotic development car haulers won't be to far behind in the UN-employment line.
Standing in line at the truckstop in Spokane, I noticed a guy buying one of those cheap keychain tools they sell for impulse spenders. I told him "I've never had any luck with those lasting long enough to make them worth the money." He laughed and said "I had my last one for over a year." Turns out he's one of the mechanics that works at the shop next door. That was enough for me I told the lady at the counter I wanted one too. Turns out the mechanic got the last one. I remembered the name of the company though. They're called Swiss Tech. While ordering myself one thought I'd post a link to Amazon where I bought mine. Order Here |
